Jenny Krogsæter about her growth in Equestrian Sports thanks to opportunities in Belgium
This past summer, we interviewed Norwegian show jumper Jenny Krogsæter (23) during the Brussels Stephex Masters, where she shared her unique journey and achievements in Belgium. Having spent the past four years as a rider for Stal Philippaerts, Jenny has mostly focused on 3- and 4-star competitions, with occasional appearances at the elite 5-star level.
“I am trying out the 5-star level a few times a year. My goal is to become more consistent at this level by the end of the year and continue building from there,” Jenny said enthusiastically.

From Norway to Belgium: An Exceptional Journey
Jenny’s path to Belgium began with her mother, who worked as a groom for Ludo Philippaerts during the legendary Darco era. “My mom introduced me to Ludo and arranged for me to train with him in 2020 to prepare for Jumping Mechelen. Unfortunately, the event was canceled due to the Covid lockdown, so I had no other choice but to stay. Four years later, I’m still here,” she recalled.
Jenny describes Stal Philippaerts as a warm and supportive environment: “They are a very nice family to work for. We are a big team and they are really taking care of my like family. They are supportive and really want what’s best for me, so I’m super grateful to be part of their team.”
Belgium: The Heart of Equestrian Sport
Belgium has offered Jenny countless opportunities to grow as a rider. “It’s the center of the equestrian world. Here, I have access to the best competitions and can compete against top riders every week. If I normally had to go from Norway, it would be super expensive and I would have to make very long trips.”
At Stal Philippaerts, Jenny works daily with her own team of 12 horses at her own part of the stable. They ride a lot of Belgian horses as well, and have a lot of contact with the breeders. When asked about her most memorable achievement, she highlights her Belgian Championship victory with Private Dancer Van’t Meulenhof (Marius Claudius x Gemini). “That championship was an unforgettable experience. I hadn’t realized the significance of the event at first, but the atmosphere, the support from breeders, and the enthusiastic crowd made it incredibly special.”
Living the Dream in Belgium
After four years in Belgium, Jenny describes her life as a dream come true: “I’ve been here for four years now and I’m really living my dream life so I’m definitely not going anywhere.” And, she joked, the Belgian fries may have a little to do with her love for the country.
